The panel agreed that role models are crucial to the success they have enjoyed in their careers. The same also goes for the careers of their industry peers. Role models can come in surprising places. Jenna spoke to how pivotal role models from all areas – male and female – have been to the growth of her career.

Takeaway 2: More than a Job

Julia summed this up the best when she talked about what motivates her to be in the industry. It’s more than just a job, the industry is a people-centric industry that works together to accomplish great projects. In the construction industry, you’re never alone. Through many associations and events, just like this panel, there is a stronger coalition of women in construction than you may know. Check out Julia’s analysis of this at the 34:25 mark of the video.

Women in Construction Takeaway 3: Go for It!

Sabrina, Julia and Olivia all started their careers as engineers. Some of our panel loved the field, and some see their future on a different side of the business. One thing was clear for all of them, through their whole career they have seen the need to move boldly into new opportunities. In addition, take full advantage of every opportunity they can. From Jenna getting her real estate license on a leap of faith. Or Olivia climbing all the way up the Tower Crane to hang flags, you never know where your journey will bring you.

This panel was full of amazing advice and we highly recommend you take a few minutes to watch the whole event and check out more Small Giants‘ videos and services. We love this industry and want to see it at its full potential.
