SG Spotlight: Darriane Castro
Darri is a Small Giants marketing intern and a junior at Arizona State University. Majoring in communications and minoring in public relations, this is Darri’s very first marketing internship!
What spoke to you about Small Giants and made you want to apply for an internship?
I was really drawn to Small Giants because of the all-female team! It was really surprising to see a firm like this in a heavily male-dominated industry.
What are you most excited to learn at Small Giants?
I don’t think I have just one thing in particular because I am excited to learn about everything. I am ready to soak up all the information that I can and really take advantage of the wonderful opportunity I have at Small Giants. So far, everything interests me equally! This is the first time I am hearing and learning about marketing, CRE and AEC so everything captures my interest and the newness of it all fuels my desire to understand every aspect of the industry.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
The best advice I have ever gotten was to always have confidence in myself and my capabilities.
What do you want to be when you “grow up?”
I would love to be a marketing coordinator! I like how involved and well rounded marketing coordinator positions are. I love how you can always count on doing something different every day. I could never see myself being bored! One of the most attracting aspect of being a marketing coordinator would be the ability to always work with a team and being able to foster a great work environment!
Do you belong to any organizations?
I am a part of the communication honor society, Lambda Pi Eta, at Arizona State University. Lambda Pi Eta helps guide all communication majors at Arizona State University to their desired career path, provides networking opportunities and conducts community events. I have loved being able to connect with both the faculty and students at ASU through this organization. The networking opportunities that Lambda Pi Eta offers has also been extremely beneficial to me because it helped me decided what career path I wanted to take!
What inspires you?
I have always been inspired by happy people. Whenever I see someone who is living their life to the fullest it reminds me to not let life pass me by.
What are you known for?
I would say I am known for always having a smile on my face and my positive attitude.
